Celtic silver brooch with colored enamel and faceted stones.
According to legend, the Tara Brooch is a Celtic brooch dating back to around 700 AD.
It is generally considered the most impressive of over 50 elaborate Irish brooches. It is believed to have been found in August 1850 on the beach of Bettystown, Co. Meath, and sold to a Dublin jeweler who named it the “Tara Brooch”.
It is now housed in the National Museum of Ireland in Dublin.
