Product Information
Ruby-zoisite was discovered at the Longido mining district in northeast Tanzania by Tom Blevins, an English prospector in 1949. Blevins had initially thought that he had found vast Ruby mine but it later turned out to be a green zoisite matrix with large inclusions of mostly opaque Ruby. That’s why this gemstone is also known as “Ruby Root”.
To this day, Tanzania is still the world’s only source for Ruby-in-zoisite.
These earrings, with a drop cut, are the perfect example of this incredible gemstone, as the show the deep green of the Zoisite end the violet red Ruby root.
