Product Information
Spectacular, unique, and beautiful Afghan signet ring in Silver and Agate, datable to the early 1950s.
This piece is unique due to the detailed decoration and the size of the head: a silver leaf-like setting fully adorned with floral and geometric motifs, holding the central stone.
The stone, a stunning brown Agate, features an engraving that the wearer (usually men) used as a personal seal.
The band is engraved with floral decorations, now almost worn away.
These rings often carried engravings of the family name, social rank, and/or wealth of the bearer.
Each one represents a family, a story, and a very specific social and political standing: the larger, more elaborate, and rarer the materials, the more powerful the owner was in society.
