Product Information

Beautiful and unique Afghan men’s ring, dating from the early 1900s.

These rings, handmade and enameled, were mainly worn by men from wealthy families or individuals recognized as powerful and important in their society.

What stands out in these rings is the band’s decoration, the enamel work (mostly faded) and the bezel. In this particular ring, we find a stunning ruby red color, one of the most important colors in the East along with green.

It is not a gemstone, but a crystal cut in emerald shape. At the time and in these regions, colored glass was a precious asset: it was used in trade (just like Venice did with Murano glass) and in political negotiations.
Owning such material (due to its rarity) made the person even more prestigious.
